Likes: These boots are a good fit for my 17hh thoroughbred. I bought cob size (medium)as he has quite fine legs. The boots are suitable for jumping as they have straps both top and bottom. They are soft and flexible and look good. They have neoprene padding and are quite straightforward to put on and take off as they have side-squeeze buckles as well as velcro fastenings on the top section.
Dislikes: There were no size guides given with these boots, so deciding which set to buy was a bit like pot luck. Using my common sense I got the correct size. There are also no fitting instructions given, so at first I was a bit unsure how tight the bottom straps should be. Until I got used to putting them on correctly, I was always wary of them slipping or turning, but that doesn't happen any more as I am more practices at fitting them. Sometimes it can be difficult to get them tight enough at the top to prevent them slipping.
Quality: These knee boots stay soft and flexible during work. They have an almost leather-looking outer which is easy to wipe clean. They are very robust and have a nice feel to them when you handle them. I have had the boots for over a year now. I just pop them in the washing machine when they are getting a bit dirty and they come out looking as good as new.
Summary: I was worried about putting boots over my horse's knees in case they rubbed his scars or restricted his movement. I haven't had any trouble with either of these. Whilst out hacking we do everything we used to do un-booted, and despite a few funny-looking strides when I first put them on him, my horse doesn't seem bothered by them, in fact I think he knows now that knee boots mean time for a hack!
I always think that these boots look a bit silly when I put them on, but they are there for a purpose, not to look good!! If any one asks what my horse wears knee boots for, I tell them "he has them on in case he falls off his roller blades!!"
