Purchase: Saddle was purchased at EquiSport at the Reining Futurity in Oklahoma City. The cost was in the high three thousands.
All the Jim Taylor saddles are custom so the prices vary as to how fancy the tooling, etc. This was a plainer, version, just basket tooled. I am saving for a silver one this year.
Likes: This saddle has the best seat I have ever sat in. I don't have to hunt for the pocket, I'm already there! I scored my highest score ever on my first show in the new saddle. The fenders are free to get my legs up or back. I can feel my horse because the narrowness of the seat allows me to get close. The fenders were already short enough, in stock, like they were made just for me.
Dislikes: Nothing.
Quality: Quality and construction are second to none.
The fit for my horse is perfect.
Summary: It is a joy to ride in this incredible, hand made beauty. I stop better than I was ever able to before. I can sit my horse for the first time.
The best part is the fit for my horse. The fit for him was the most important. We tried several trees to make sure the John O'Hara was the correct fit. He is very happy to finally have a perfect fitting saddle and so am I. I'll be at EquiSport this year at the Futurity for my "fancy" one.
