Purchase: Bought saddle at State line Tack for $445.00 (clearance priced) in August, 2006.
Likes: I love this saddle. My horses love the saddle fit. I bought the Wide gullet and switched it for the medium the saddle comes with. No problem doing that. 4 easy screws. I love the cair panels that conform to the horse's back. Makes me feel better about the pressure distribution and no pressure points.
Dislikes: Nothing. I like it all. No complaints. I think all these saddles should come with the gullet measuring guide though....
Quality: Saddle seems very well made. I love the equisuede fabric. Very grippy and very comfortable. The knee rolls are attached by velcro so you can remove or reposition them to fit your leg. The cair panels are comfy and conforming to the horse's back. The leather billet straps are nice too. Well-made, and the tack shop owners say this saddle should last about 20 years or so. Great price for a great saddle.
Summary: I went and bought a second saddle same size, same kind for my other horse within a week. Both horses move better, are more relaxed, and my young green horse who has been battling with me for the last 2 years is a changed ride. He is relaxed, moves forwards with enthusiasm, his head is much lower, and he loves being ridden. No more sore back, no more reluctance to move forward, no pulling on the reins, no more bucking, and no more upright head carriage. I highly recommend this saddle to anyone. It was such a pleasant riding change. Another huge bonus is that MY BACK (the rider) feels better than it has in years. It doesn't hurt after riding anymore. I will be saving on chiropractic care too!
I love the easy change gullet system. It was no problem changing to a larger size and I bought a second saddle so I can ride both horses with different widths without switching the gullets each time.
As far as the easy change gullet system, I think the system is wonderful but don't assume it is geared towards switching gullet size between rides. It's meant to be switched as your horse grows/expands, and not for one rider riding multiple different sized horses at one time.
