Purchase: Bought at Mountain Vet Supply for $13 in August, 2006
Likes: Works great for fly control. Seems to last longer than the water-based sprays.
Dislikes: It does make your horse's coat quite greasy. So that attracts dirt especially if your horse likes to lie down or roll. The citronella smell is quite potent too.
Quality: Yellow and black plastic. Sprayer is nice, works well and doesn't leak like some.
Summary: Great fly spray and I've tried them all. If you can handle the greasy feel, it really is effective. Works great to wipe in horse's ears too. Keeps off gnats, flies, and mosquitoes (in a West Nile Virus area). Horse is not very keen on the smell but it's lemony and not chemical smelling. It might stain leather tack, don't know, but if you spray before tacking up, that would avoid it. Lasts a day to 3 days depending on if your horse rolls. Sweat and water resistant. Have heard the aerosol version is even better but my horses won't tolerate the spraying noise.
