Purchase: I bought a month's supply of these little critters through Valley Vet, although they are drop shipped from their supplier. I believe they were about $35 for the month.
These are advertised as a non-toxic "natural" approach to fly control. The little predators hatch out and then lay their eggs in the fly pupae, destroying the fly.
Likes: I wish these had worked, but they really didn't seem to do anything, so there really isn't much to say here.
Dislikes: The folks who sell these say you have to keep it up through the entire fly season for them to really work, so maybe I didn't give them enough of a chance, but they really didn't seem to make an ounce of difference in the fly population.
Quality: The pupae arrived in good condition, and it looks like most of them hatched out as advertised.
Summary: Save your money and buy some of those ugly, stinky fly traps to hang in the barn. Better yet, just get a manure spreader and get rid of the fly's breeding ground. That way you get mulch and fertilizer all in one, and it's free!
