Purchase: I acquired this item at a local tack shop for $49.99. I got it because it was the cheapest helmet I could get and I needed it because my International ATH was damaged from a fall and my International schooling helmet was cracked.
Likes: It's a fabulous schooling helmet! The back of it adjusts to your head size. I change the back depending on what style my hair is in. I tighten it if it's in a pony tail and loosen it if I want to put my hair in the helmet. It's very comfortable and it keeps me very cool when I'm riding. A proceed of Devon Aire products goes to help the US Pony Club. It has a limited warranty so you can get another Aegis helmet if yours is in an accident. It comes in a variety of colors, but I just wanted a regular schooling helmet, so I got a black one.
Dislikes: The only complaint I have is that I had to get this helmet in a large/extra large and I wear a medium in my International helmets. I think the large/extra large is if you have the back of the helmet adjusted to a very large head. All of my friends have an International medium sized helmet and they fit in this one fine. My advice is not to buy this helmet from a catalog because it might not fit. It's best to try it on in the stores.
Quality: The quality of the helmet is fantastic. I really think this helmet is one of the best schooling helmets on the market. It can fit nearly any head because you can adjust the size of it. For the price paid, it was a great value. I think that catalogs like State Line Tack carry it for $39.99, maybe cheaper.
Summary: I would definitely choose this helmet again for schooling. Devon Aire also makes a show helmet like this in velveteen with a black harness. It's a very good helmet and I think that if you want to get a nice helmet that you can adjust at a good price, this is definitely a helmet you should buy.
