Purchase: I bought the Cavallo pastern wraps for $14.99 for two less S&H. I thought they would work great and help the problems I was having with chafing.
Likes: At first they were great. Protected the pastern where the chafing occurred. Stayed in place in the front.. I like how they velcro in. Breathable.
Dislikes: After a few uses and stretching on and off they get broken down. The inside material..some kind of foam split causing the wrap to be very loose. Any little rough pieces on the hoof the material will catch on the snag..you cannot avoid this. After about a months worth of riding and never ridden in water. the wrap was so stretched that you could have probably fit another hoof in it..way too large and all it did was collect dirt and rocks which rubbed against her leg causing irritation. Also the bottom of the wrap was unfinished so the fabric on the outside just peeled away from the foam. Eventually the wrap was causing more problems then without. When you go to put the foot in the wrap lifts up and leaving the heel unprotected which it is supposed to do. This is now another concern. My horses heels have hardly any hair and are getting worse. They are hardly usable.
Quality: Its a good concept but needs major improvements. Quality is not so good. Better material is needed. Something more durable. They don't last long at all.
Summary: They have helped with one Problem but have caused some. They are not as good as advertised. They do not last long at all. I am not impressed with them. With improvements they could work and work well but for now I wouldn't spend your money on them they are NOT worth it.
