Purchase: After researching pads, saddles, saddle trees, and whatever else I could think of, I contacted SaddleRight to ask questions about their pad. The web site intrigued me and although the pad is pricey, I was hoping it might help help with my gelding's saddle fit problem and performance decline. He recently began limping slightly in a trot and was fighting cantering all the time. He would canter about 15 strides and just stop. I had ruled out medical problems and ruled in saddle fit problems. I finally decided $279 for the SaddleRight pad and liner was cheaper than $1500 for a new saddle that may or may not take care of the problem. The 30 day trial was the final perk that made me order the pad.
Likes: Let me tell you, this was the best $279 I have spent in a long time. The quality of this pad is EXCEPTIONAL. I was impressed the minute I took it out of the box. It was far better quality than anything I have seen in retail stores selling for $150 - $200. The first time I used the pad on my gelding, I had to keep checking to make sure I was riding the same horse. The limping is gone and he will now canter effortlessly until I ask him to stop. I am also using this pad on my mare and the quality of her gaits and tempo has noticeable improved.
Dislikes: I haven't found 1 thing I don't like. It is an expensive pad but the quality and performance is worth every penny.
Quality: I purchased the Western Wool Pad with wear leathers and the liner. I have been using it for over 2 months and it looks like I just took it out of the box. Quality is superb. I really like the fact that the pad gives you exactly what you want without being too thick so you can maintain more feel and contact with the horse.
Summary: If you are having saddle fit problems or a horse that limps or stumbles and you know there is no physical problem, I urge you to visit the SaddleRight web site and research this pad. I will be purchasing another SaddleRight pad in the future.
