Purchase: I got these boots off ebay brand new for $110 from an ebay seller(which I thought was quite the deal). I was looking for a good pair of tall boots that would be appropriate for schooling at home and to wear to some barn shows. I had heard good things about Mountain Horse and the price was definitely right.

Likes: These boots break in very quickly and are very comfortable. I went with the Sportive over the High Rider because I wanted the more refined look in case I wanted to wear them to barn/schooling shows. When wearing them you can't really tell that they are not real expensive boots. Plus, I love that they have a full zipper up the back and they come in wide calf sizes.

Dislikes: The only thing I would say I don't like is that they only come in full sizes. I normally wear a size 7 in shoes but it can vary anywhere from a 7-7.5 so I got myself an 8W in these boots. So many riding boots fit snug in the toe area so I wanted to make sure I gave myself plenty of room. Now, after having them a few months I want to get another pair in a 7W. If you wear a half size I would go down in size.

Quality: Leather is good quality, not like custom boots but better than some boots I've seen for the same price. Zipper and elasticized calf are still in working order, no disappointments so far.

Summary: I really love these boots. Even if you have to pay full price for them (which I think is $189 in catalogues) I think they are worth it. I like them much better than the High Rider version which I think looks a little "clunky". With that said, even though these are more refined they are not going to look like expensive custom boots so if you are looking for a pair of show boots I don't think Mountain Horse are the boots for you, but if your looking for good schooling boots that still give that refined look then these are perfect.
