Manufacturer: Stubben
Model: Siegfreid CS
Category: Jumping Saddles

Purchase: Purchase used for $775- it is a 2000 model. New they run around $1600. Wanted a more secure saddle for larger jumps, needed a saddle that would fit my horse. My Crosby PDN (padded flap) left me searching for that sweet spot for security- this one just puts you there.

Likes: UNBELIEVABLY secure in the legs- they don't move over jumps! Perfect position and SECURE for jumping and long, fast gallops cross country, your legs don't creep backward at all. This is a half deep seat model with forward scalloped padded flaps and a small thigh block in front- not the same as the all purpose Siegfried. Pommel is lower and very narrow twist for close contact through the legs- I can really feel my horse when maneuvering through a course. This saddle is a 32 cm which is considered wide but fits everything I've put it on, never bridges like my Crosby would sometimes. Very durable, well constructed. But what sold me is the security and leg position.

Dislikes: Seat is too hard despite the fact that there is some padding. Just not comfortable for long rides (in my opinion), better for rides where you are going somewhere trotting or cantering. This may not bother some but I am picky when it comes to trail comfort.

Quality: Built like a tank!! This saddle was rode hard before I bought it by a trainer but was checked over by a master saddler and found to be in perfect shape. Leather is excellent, durable but not stiff or slippery- takes oil well. Not afraid to ride in the rain! Flocked which I really prefer to foam for a custom fit.

Summary: Love this saddle for jumping, hunter paces, anything where you are going somewhere at a trot, gallop etc... Excellent construction, well worth what I paid- just wish the seat had more padding!
