Purchase: I bought it on ebay in July 2006 and paid $1550.00 for it. I bought it because I have tried many other brands of saddle that were advertised for gaited horses but did not allow the freedom of movement that the Synergist saddles do. Several of my riding friends own Synergist saddles that they have been very please with the quality.
Likes: I like the quality of the leather and the attention to detail that the saddle maker has with the saddle. The seat had a pocket for extra padding to be inserted with a jean seam in the middle of the seat and 2 hollowed out areas to give room for the rider's seat bones which makes for a more comfortable ride.
Dislikes: Since I bought it from the original owner the fenders are a bit short for my longer leg length. However, I can have them adjusted when I send the saddle back to Synergist for the refitting for my own horse's measurements. The seat has the pocket for the extra padding but it was not inserted so I'll have to have it added during the refitting process as well.
Quality: The leather is thick and the back of the fenders are finished not rough. The stitching is even and very tight. The color of the leather is a beautiful even pecan color. The suppleness of the leather when cleaned and oiled is fantastic.
Summary: I was very lucky to find a nearly new Synergist trail saddle on ebay for a great price which included the rear cinch, full leather saddle pads and real sheepskin lining of the saddle, cinch and saddle bags. I would definitely recommend a Synergist saddle to all gaited horse owners no matter the age of the horse!!!
