Purchase: Bought at horsesaddleshop.com for $99.99. Shipping was free because my total order was over $150. My old helmet, a Troxel Legacy Gold Duratech, is starting to look beat up and was never very flattering to begin with. I wanted something better looking. If I'm going to be the only western rider in my social group wearing a helmet, I don't want to look like a walking mushroom, you know?
Likes: It is extremely cool looking when I'm not wearing it. And actually, it was more comfortable than any other helmet I've had. Once I adjusted the inside, it felt like it was custom made for my head and light as a feather...
Dislikes: ...and then I looked in the mirror. I have NEVER seen anything so ridiculous. This took mushroom head to a whole new level. I was like a living bobble head. The helmet looked disproportionately huge on me, like I was wearing a watermelon with a chin strap.
Quality: It was solid and lightweight and I liked the "all-terrain" styling. It looked tough and it fit like a glove. I also appreciated the carrying bag to keep it from getting all scuffed like my other helmet.
Summary: This helmet looks great in the catalog and nice on a store dummy, but I think Troxel is going to have to go a lot lower profile and more flattering before they get Western riders on the bandwagon. I ended up returning this helmet and I'm done with Troxel for good.
