Purchase: I purchased this saddle from Martin Saddlery in Greenville, TX used for a little under $1,000. Was a good deal since a brand new version of this saddle would have cost $2700. Saddle is a 2003 model and I got it mid 2006.
Likes: This saddle was about 3 yrs old when I acquired it, but was in very good condition. The saddle was very well made and heavy duty. Very attractive for a roping saddle without being over the top like so many of the "trendy" saddles are today. Had been roped off of lots but withstood it well. Looks like it could last a very long time!!
Dislikes: Saddle was pretty heavy, but that can be good or bad depending on how you look at it. You Get what you pay for, so expect to shell out a lot when purchasing a good Martin Saddle.
Quality: Top quality all the way. Beautifully hand tooled, nice, even stitching and excellent quality leather. This one has the Wyoming & Spider 3/4 tooling with a rough-out seat and full QH bars. I would say that this is one of the nicest roping saddles that I have ever owned.
Summary: Martin Makes great saddles and I would say that roping saddles are their specialty. I would recommend this brand to any professional horse person and also to a casual rider that appreciates quality.
