Likes: Beautiful to look at, and I think my horse was comfortable.
Dislikes: This saddle has such a wide twist, I simply could not ride in it. I have been riding in a Collegiate Jessica, which I now know has a very narrow twist. I have been able to sit the trot on my horse, and hes a big moving fellow, going from posting to sitting, even starting some extended trot, with no problems. I decided to buy the Bates, thinking it would fit my new half friesian baby as she grows up, as well as my gelding. I absolutely could not sit my horses trot, and was bouncing all over his back, I could not give him a leg cue as I was trying so hard not to bounce! So my advice is ride in one before you buy! I had no idea the seat could affect my riding to such a degree! I actually used foil to make a mold of the seat of my old Collegiate and the Bates to see just how different they are, and the Bates is wide and flat compared to the Jessica. I am sure this must fit the personal anatomy of some riders, but not this one!
Quality: I do not know how well it will hold up as I sold it immediately, but it is beautiful to look at.
