Purchase: I purchased this saddle from Mary Street of Mary's Saddles in Whittier, CA, for $1850.
Likes: Nothing, really.
Dislikes: The leather was very thin and pieces of the outfit -- the back cinch and breast collar -- were obviously taken from a pleasure saddle as they would be dangerous to use for roping. The color was not what I'd requested and the tooling was terrible. The edge trim was run down the center in some pieces and not only did it not look like what I'd requested, the corner tooling was indistinct and incomplete in places as well. Last but not least, she'd made the saddle close-contact which I had discussed with her and specifically requested it not be.
Quality: Other than the tree, this was not much of a roping saddle -- at least not one I would feel comfortable or safe using. It was also unattractive and not what I'd requested.
Summary: When I took Mary up on her repeated offer to return my money, she would only give me part of it. And since -- at her insistence -- I'd made my checks out to her and not her company and received no receipt or paperwork in return, I had no proof of purchase I could use to help me recover my loss. Bottom line: It is my experience that this person is extremely dishonest and difficult to work with; if you feel you must purchase a saddle from her, I strongly advice you receive adequate documentation to protect yourself -- which if you ask for -- in all probability she'll refuse working with you.
