Manufacturer: Boa Horse Boots
Model: Boa Boots and Gaiters
Category: Horse Boots and Wraps

Purchase: I was in need of finding boots for my 3 horses that I had decided to go "barefoot" with. I just did not like the idea of nailing something onto the hoof. It seemed so unnatural. It was also becoming costly to have 3 shod every 6 weeks. After much research, I choose the Boa Boots. Ordering them from Stateline Tack & Petsmart. Costing about $138.00.

Likes: The first pair arrived & I ran to the barn to saddle up & try out the new Boa Boots. I used the Easy Boots on the hind & the new Boa Boots on the front. I did the hard part first, got the hind ready to go. Took a break to rest after the long struggle, & started for the front. What a joy! Open, over, down, snap, & turn the dial! No rest break required! This is awesome! They stayed on great, & no difficulty to remove either. Of course, my mare look like a cat that stepped in glue the first couple of steps, but, she soon was gaiting out beautifully. As soon as the ride was over, it was back to the house, to order more. Soon, I had six pair!

Dislikes: Alas, all good things must come to an end. I also soon discovered that, the seams were splitting, wires were breaking, & the boots looked very tattered. Also, gaiters must be worn or there are abrasions on the back, above the hair line. Now, I have to tend to the "boo boo" I inflicted, during the trial & error period. My boots have what I consider very little wear time. Considering, not every pair is being used every time, & I can't ride every day. More like once or twice a week if I'm lucky. While researching, I saw a video with Clinton Anderson saying that he used the boots & set out to destroy them. He states he could not do it. Well, Clinton, come ride with me, I'll show you how it is done.

Quality: The Boa Boots are made of a heavy material, such as tires on a car. When making something for an animal such as a horse, it has to be tough. But the pairs I seem to have gotten have been of poor quality. I took very good care of them. They are EXPENSIVE. Not something to be carelessly tossed aside when done. I used oil on them as recommended, kept them in the tack room when not in use. Cleaned them after each use, & let them air dry. After all, it's for the horses!

Summary: Now, I am at such a dilemma. I have Easy Boots for them, but it is such a struggle, & still a worry that one will come off. The Boa Boots are so much easier, & I believe much more comfortable for my horses. I returned 3 pair to Petsmart for a refund. I still have 3 pair, but how long will they last before something happens to them? Then what? I would LOVE to use the Boa Boots. I bragged to everyone about going barefoot & being able to use the Boa Boots that are extremely easy to apply. Now, I'm eating my words. I wish I knew just what was wrong. I have asked the Boa Company, but, no real answer. Maybe I should get a job testing items for companies, because, if it can go wrong, it will for me.
