Purchase: I bought my masks from the Cashel Web site for $30.
Likes: The mesh does a good job of keeping flies off my horses' faces, the long nose keeps my blaze-faced Quarter Horse and pink-nosed Arabian from burning, and the soft fabric ear coverings keep gnats and flies out of the ears.
Dislikes: Although the ear coverings are apparently comfy, the fabric's not terribly durable; I've had to stitch this part of the mask back together when it's snagged on various items. I've also had to sew one of the Velcro fastenings back on one of the masks. Finally, my Arab has a tendency to pull his mask off at least once a week while scratching his perpetually itchy face.
Quality:
Summary: Although various aspects could be improved, the Crusader is still the best mask I've used. It's is a big help to my horses in terms of both sun and fly protection -- and both of them stick their heads out to help me put the masks on each morning in the summer, which has to count for something!
