Purchase: I bought these boots on the Cashel Web site for about $50.
Likes: They keep flies off the legs and prevent my pink-legged Arab from burning.
Dislikes: The boots chafe, and, even with the internal stays, they tend to sag badly (adjusting for a snugger fit will leave your horse lame, so don't try it). Cashel has obviously worked hard to design a boot that will stay on the horse's leg, but the plethora of Velcro straps means that storing the boots is a nightmare -- everything sticks together in a clump if you don't carefully close each strip of Velcro before putting the boots away -- and putting them on or taking them off is an exercise in frustration.
Quality: The Velcro straps tend to fall off, meaning that you have to sew them back on so that there aren't gaps in the coverage of the horse's leg.
Summary: We still have our boots -- the Cashel rep I spoke with was rather rude when I called to ask about a refund and didn't seem to understand that the only way one could figure out that the boots wouldn't work for one's horse would be to actually put the boots on the horse -- but we only use them when the flies are absolutely unbearable. My other experience with Cashel products has been great, but these boots were definitely not for us.
