I have purchased 2 pairs of these shoes over the past 3 years through their catalog and online using their internet website.
Likes: I really like the comfort and versatility of these shoes. They wear like an athletic shoe but have the advantage of having a heel to facilitate safer riding as compared to a traditional tennis shoe. My first pair lasted over a year with every day usage that bordered on extreme abuse. They were worn to muck out stalls, walking through mud, and riding the trails. I rarely gave them a good cleaning and most cleanings amounted to using the water hose to knock off some of the mud from the bottom of the soles. After a year, the tread looked virtually new.
Dislikes: Considering the abuse I put these shoes through, I really can't say much that I did not like about them. But to be picky, after a week of wear, the shoes had a superficial surface crack that ran across the top of the toes where the shoes bent while walking. Considering that I have yet to own a pair of boots where this has not happened, I would have to consider this as something to be expected. After 1 year, one of the soles parted company from the rest of the body of the shoe.
Quality: The construction and quality of the shoe far exceeded my expectations for a shoe priced under $50. I wish they were waterproof as it would have made hosing them off to clean a little easier, but they have survived as long as my Ariat Waterproof Terrian Lacers costing substantially more.
Summary: The Roper Horseshoes are a comfortable, versatile and durable all around barn shoe.
They have been great for hiking, riding and general barn work without having to constantly change shoes. They have held up as well as similar barn shoes costing quiet a bit more.
