Purchase: Upon suggestion by my farrier, I purchased Boa horse boots from State Line Tack for approximately $120 intending to rehab my foundered horse.
Likes: The boots have been great in transitioning my foundered horse from metal shoes to being barefoot. They've allowed me to ride him lightly to moderately without damaging his feet with a mind to promoting proper hoof growth. The boots have been easy to apply and pads for the sole were added initially for greater comfort.
Dislikes: The boots are designed to fit a normal hoof shape. Since my horse's feet were foundered, the boots did not fit ideally and rubbed his heels or had pressure rubs under the dial. I also had a lace break, rendering one boot useless until a lace could be procured. The dial covers must be TIGHT, otherwise they pop off. Due to the broken lace, I strongly suspect that anything more than light riding is too much for the design of the boot.
Quality: The construction is faultless and the material tough. I thought the boots well constructed. After miles of road and trail, the boots have little sign of wear and required very little maintenance.
Summary: I have been pleased with the boots' contribution to the rehabilitation of my horse's feet, but I could have ridden more if they had fit better and the lace not broken.
