Purchase: I purchased this saddle through the State line Tack catalogue because I have a flat-withered broad-backed Arabian that is a pain to fit, and this saddle was my last choice because of the easy exchangeable gullet system ( I had gone through saddles like water because they didn't fit my horse right). I paid $575.00 for it.
Likes: First of all, I like that this saddle has the CAIR Panels (filled with air) in it instead of traditional wool flocking because it takes pressure off the horse's back and alleviates pressure points. This saddle also gives you the option to change the gullet width from narrow to extra wide. This saddle is VERY easy to clean and maintain...just wipe off with a damp sponge or rag. For the most part, it's comfortable and molds to your horse within the first ride. It also has changeable flexiblocs that you can adjust to your liking. It has a wide twist which is great for me because I have wide seat bones. Last, but not least, it is affordable.
Dislikes: Well, as you would have it, it still does not fit my horse perfectly so I'm still looking for the right saddle. I don't like that it scratches easily where the billets meet the girth. The synthetic material on the saddle can get pretty slippery if you are not wearing full-seat breeches or chaps, and lastly, I do not like the fact that the gullet can be changed, but the tree stays the same. The whole saddle has to fit, not just the gullet. So some people are under the understanding that if the gullet fits, the whole saddle fits, which is not true.
Quality: This saddle is made of synthetic equileather that appears to be leather but is much easier to clean. This saddle also consists of CAIR Panels instead of traditional wool flocking which is better for the horse's back and alleviates pressure points. The quality of this saddle is sturdy and can last for many years, but gets a lot of scuff marks from everyday riding.
Summary: Overall, this saddle is a great practice saddle for everyday use. This saddle is great for a horse you have a hard time fitting because of the exchangeable gullet system. I would not recommend this saddle for showing or competition...leather's best! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
