Purchase: My event horse is looking at a rather strenuous work schedule this winter, so I decided to clip him to allow him to cool out faster after the heavy dressage and jumping workouts. I only had a rain sheet and a dress sheet for last year, and I was getting really tired of layering blankets when the weather got really cold. The rain sheet was so worn out it was losing much of it's waterproofing, and it was time to get a heavy blanket. I purchased this turnout from eBay for about $110 total, a steal for a blanket normally running to $170. I really wanted a high neck, which was featured in this blanket. I believe they fit better and don't rub as bad.
Likes: The blanket is a beautiful color, spruce and silver. It has 1260 denier, so it's really tough and doesn't rip easily (my thoroughbred can get rough on blankets). The blanket has a wonderful fit. The gussets are placed lower and more on the shoulder/knee area so it allows for better motion without rubbing. The newer front closures on the weatherbeeta blankets are much easier. You adjust the buckles once, and then snap them in place every time afterwards. The surcigles have the rubber stoppers on them, so you reduce the risk of them coming loose. The metal hardware appears powder-coated so it will not rust like the other blanket hardware. The huge "weatherstop" tail flap doesn't allow for wind or rain to get my horse's booty either, which is nice. The hind leg straps are elasticized and they stretch - way better than nylon which has no give. I really love the high neck - the blanket doesn't slide around and it doesn't let rain or snow leak into the horse's shoulders. This blanket is pretty much bombproof, and excellent quality for the price. It doesn't rub the shoulders, which is very nice if you have competition horses like me. The 360 grams of polyfill keeps him super warm without layers.
Dislikes: My thoroughbred is rather short backed and narrow, so it's hard to find one that fits perfectly so it's a little bit bunchy but it doesn't move around at all. That's it!

Summary: This blanket is so wonderful, I will return and purchase another heavy for my 2nd horse (her landa will be worn out after next year) and will buy a new rain sheet in this same model for next year. Another great sheet by weatherbeeta!
