Purchase: After experiencing just how comfortable my first custom Jerry Shaw saddle was on an all day trail ride, I sold every saddle I owned, including my very nice Bob's show saddle; and as money allowed, I replaced them with saddles made by Jerry Shaw. I'm a saddle snob, but the detail, exquisite hand tooling and all around attention to detail in the JShaw saddle, plus the all day comfort, convinced me to make the changes. Mr. Shaw's price for a basic reiner begins at $2500 and increases according to the additional accessories desired
Likes: First of all it's beautifully made with the best materials available. The silver package is beautiful and I especially like the conchos' elongated silver tips and tear drops. The hand tooling is a most beautiful and artful original creation. The saddle is also extremely comfortable for me and my horses.
Dislikes: No complaints at all.
Quality: All of Mr. Shaw's custom saddles are made from the highest quality leather, trees and hardware available and he uses only real sheepskin. His inhouse artisans are unparalleled, and no detail is left unfinished whether it be visible or hidden within the saddle structure.
Summary: I've been riding for a little over 40 years and have owned saddles from some of the top makers. I do believe you cannot find a saddle better made or more beautiful or more comfortable for you and your horse than one from Jerry Shaw. I've noted that some of the top winners in competitive reining, cutting and open cowhorse competitions ride JShaw saddles, and I've heard nothing but praise for them.
