Manufacturer: Theo Sommer
Model: Egon Von Neindorf
Category: Dressage Saddles

Purchase: I purchased this saddle from Dressage Extensions for $1795.00

Likes: This saddle is fabulous for allowing your body to be in the perfect position naturally. I had a Schleese that had huge thigh blocks previously and it actually kept my leg from hanging correctly and I would "lift" my heels. The first ride in this I noticed that my heel was down and my leg was in perfect position. There is a very small knee roll on this saddle, therefore, there is no interference. It is pretty grippy with the Scrumpf leather, and extremely light which is a big change. I love this saddle! It is hard to find, but worth the search if you want close contact (it has a monoflap) and correct position.

Dislikes: Its not the flashiest saddle out there. It is pretty plain looking, one might not even know that it was a fairly expensive saddle just by looking at it. It isn't that the quality isn't good, but because the leather is textured all over, it is not as "shiny" and flashy looking as some others....but when you are riding, who is looking at the saddle anyway? Oh, and there is no leather "keeper" for the excess...not sure that is a bad thing. I did not notice it at all when riding.

Quality: I think it is very high quality. Stitching is nice and tight, everything seems to be cut and fitted nicely, no loose ends anywhere. Leather is soft on the seat, the flocking seems even and secure. Everything is neat and tidy. The "flex" tree is wonderful too...I took this off my 16.1 mare with a pretty big build and wide shoulders, and then put it on my 15.3 paint gelding that is narrower, and it fit them both very well...great feature!

Summary: This is a great saddle to allow you to ride in a natural position without any interference from large thigh blocks, knees blocks, rolls, etc....it is very light if that matters to you (especially handy when putting on a tall horse!). The thing I noticed was that you don't really "notice" the saddle when you are riding, which when you think about it, is a wonderful thing...it means everything is working in harmony.
