Purchase: First one purchased from State Line Tack about 7 years ago, have purchased more over the years, most recently paid $21.99.

Likes: I have used masks both with and without ears, all long. The masks have fitted every horse I have every put them on, from 13.2HH show pony to 18.2HH warmblood X shire hunter. Not only do they fit but they do not rub, the mesh fabric is hard wearing and it stands out well from the eyes. The only masks that have ripped have been in their third summer making their purchase price reasonable in the long run. I moved to Australia 5 years ago and have the masks sent over here now as I can't find them over here and nothing else withstands the harsh conditions of the summer sun. 3 of my 5 horses have pink noses and lips and only get sunburn on their bottom lips as the masks are long enough to cover everything else. The masks without ears stay firmly in place - even for the most accomplished houdini.

Dislikes: The masks with ears doesn't stay in place quite so well. They have been rubbed off and I have 'lost' them in the paddock and given their dull grey colour have taken some time to 'find' them again.

Quality: The mesh is different to any other fly mask or veil I've used before and is of excellent durable quality. The stretch sides are resistant to all but the fiercest of grass seeds. I have found that literally on the 3rd year of wearing the mesh has come away at the brow area, more than acceptable in my view.

Summary: My 5 horses are have long masks with no ears and I put them on every morning happy in the knowledge that they will be safe - no slippage causing harm; comfortable - they never sweat under them and never rub and; free from flies - an interesting concept in an Australian Summer.
