Purchase: I purchased this saddle brand new from a local English riding store, for 1/2 price at $1100. It was in my price range and fit me nicely at 17.5". The saddle is the Tobiac colour with a shorter flap.
Likes: The French leather is unquestionably beautiful. I was a little questionable about the brand since I had never heard of it in Canada, but with some looking around I found that it was a very popular saddle in France. I find my balance on flat and over fences is near perfect and easy to keep. I have a medium tree saddle and it fits my Arab, my part walker and my quarter horse beautifully.
Dislikes: Some noted wear, even after only 7 uses on the flap where the stirrup leather sits. This consists of lightened leather and rubbing, but is to be expected I presume. Since my leg sits there I am not concerned about it.
Quality: The seat and knee pads have beautifully soft leather which is not slippery and provides grip and security. It has a close contact feel but front and rear jumping blocks and a slightly deeper seat provide more security. The leather breaks in nicely and absorbs saddle oil well. I got instructions to oil it for the first dozen uses and it is well worth it. The colour did darken up with oiling but I prefer the darker colour anyway. The stitching is beautiful and the panels are flocked well, the knee pad has those air ride panels for added comfort. The saddle is also beautifully light in weight and sits secure on the horses back. If I were to buy it again however, I would probably buy it in Noir because it is a easier colour to care for.
Summary: Beautiful saddle, and it was exactly what I was looking for as an upgrade from my Collegiate Sr. Event. I needed a saddle with more leg room for jumping and this one is great, and comfortable to boot. I was looking for a Barnsby because they are beautiful saddles but I am quite enjoying this saddle. I understand Forestier also produces excellent Endurance saddles.
