Purchase: I took this saddle out of our local tack shop on consignment, the person selling was asking $500 with out fittings, but it did come with the cair adjustable tree system. My horse has a back problem so I was looking for something light weight, well padded, zero maintenance and the adjustable tree was what drew me to the Wintec.
Likes: I like the weight of the saddle and the fact the panels are wide and well positioned, a good 5 inches, the seat was soft and it had the short billets so you can tighten if you need to with out dismounting. You definitely need to purchase their type of stirrup leathers to eliminate bulk at the stirrup bar and avoid any bulges there so you won't wear out the material. It did position me well in the saddle but I prefer a leather seat.
Dislikes: I didn't care for the material of the saddle, easy to clean but was like being stuck to velcro. With any hard use and I like to ride, I didn't see where the material would hold up. The adjustable tree is a pain in the neck. Don't think you will change it quickly to ride a number of different horses because you won't. It took lots of muscle plus, the first big screw you take out, seemed to be stripped once I changed to a smaller tree. I didn't like the metal tree, seemed like I could feel it through the padding underneath. It was a bit harsh.
Quality: I didn't like the tree system, and I could see the overall material wearing out rather quickly. The panels were foam and though were soft and wide had become pocketed and squishy not smooth when you pressed on them. So you would definitely need a pretty thick pad.
Summary: Over all, it is a ok/good saddle for a beginner since there is no maintenance, and it's not expensive. I probably would have like the $1000 dressage model better but I was looking to get by cheap and have something that I didn't care got rained on or beat up. I think they need to redesign their changeable tree system, for that reason alone I am taking it back. Before you by a saddle see if there are any on consignment you can take and try, sure glad I did.
