Purchase: I purchased this blanket late last winter at a tack store, Western Outfitters, in Missoula, Montana, for my 19 year old Swedish Warmblood whose old blanket of nine years had finally given way with a torn-off and missing surcingle and a worn out lining. It was a custom made blanket that had lasted nine winters, the entire time that I have owned him. It was expensive, priced at about $350 at that time, but it fit him quite well and didn't cause shoulder rubs. I own two horses that share blankets, and own various Rambo and Rhino blankets. The tack store salesperson sold me on the idea of giving the Amigo a try, even though I was a bit skeptical about the cost being so low; I paid $113.95 for it.
Likes: I have been very impressed with the quality of the blanket; it performs like the Rambo and Rhino in every way. For the first time since I have owned him, my horse is outside in a ten-acre pasture this winter. He has a very nice, architecturally designed shed, but he prefers to stay out in the elements with his buddy. Last week we had a wind and rain storm and the temperature was just above freezing. The next morning I checked him to see if he was at all cold or wet under the blanket, but he was warm and dry. I really love the high-cut neck and the surcingle front closures.
Dislikes: I actually prefer leg straps to a tail strap.
Quality: It is a well-made blanket and holds up well to laundering and horse abuse like all of the Horseware products.
Summary: I feel good knowing that my horse is protected from the Montana weather now that he has become an outdoor, non-stabled horse. This is a really good blanket for any price; I'm just happy that it is priced so reasonably, since I have two horses to provide for.
