Purchase: I paid $120 each for my bridles online at EquusNow.com. I bought one about a year and a half ago for my Welsh-Arab cross and recently acquired a second one for my quarter horse.
Likes: Bobby's bridles are elegantly made, and I've had countless people ask me, "Where'd you buy your Edgewood?" They're always surprised when I tell them I paid a third of what an Edgewood or a Jimmy's costs. The leather oils up wonderfully; these are the softest, most comfortable bridles my horses have ever worn, yet they're sturdy and look good in the show ring.
Dislikes: The only -- and I mean only -- thing I don't care for is the way the caveson is constructed: In Bobby's cavesons, the crownpiece is stitched into the noseband; I prefer to see a slotted caveson. The construction used by Bobby's has in no way detracted from the look or the durability of my bridles, though.
Both of my bridles are cob sizes. Keep in mind that if you're buying a smaller size for a horse with a small head, you may find that the reins are a bit short -- between my quarter horse's longer neck, the short reins, and my short arms, I sometimes have to really reach to release properly over a jump -- but that's not the company's fault at all!
Quality: Everything about these bridles is first-rate. The leather is wonderfully supple -- one oiling, and it feels as if you've been using the bridle for years -- and the stitching is tiny and tight.
Summary: If you want durable, comfortable tack that gets compliments but don't have a huge budget, check out this bridle. You won't be sorry.
