Purchase: Purchased from State Line Tack in Colorado Springs, CO - we were looking for waterproof/windproof winter blankets for older broodmares. Each blanket cost $139.00.
Likes: These blankets are AMAZING! In the past we have custom ordered blankets from other manufacturers - these State Line Tack Blankets far exceed the durability, fit, & warmth of anything we've custom-ordered before! We bought them because they are supposed to be waterproof/windproof....and they are! These older mares need a little more TLC through the winter months and these blankets sure seem to be giving them the extra warmth they need (they do stay dry, too). The blankets "stay-put" and are remarkably "repellent" to moisture, wind, dirt, and grime. They are rated 0 degrees to 40 degrees. The mares are holding their weight better with these blankets than anything we've used in the past.
Dislikes: There's not really anything we don't like about these blankets. We do watch the higher temps in our area. Our climate can change within minutes - we can go from single digit temps to 60 degrees the next day - in the winter! If we don't have any windchill and the temp raises above 50 we do have to unblanket everybody to keep them from getting too hot. But, even so, it's worth the comfort they have in the cold weather and wind. We have literally quit worrying about these "old gals".
Quality: These blankets are on horses that are kept outside - full time - pastured...we haven't seen any scrapes, snags, tears, pulls, rubs, NOTHING! The snaps are quick-snaps and easy to release, the fronts are adjustable, with enough overlap to block out drafts, and the neck is higher cut to stop the wind and weather over the withers, there is a wind flap constructed over the base of the tail, the the shoulders are gusseted to prevent rubbing and the legstraps are partially elasticized for comfort. When we go to blanket mares, they come to us and stick their heads out like they want that blanket slipped on!

Our heaviest weight waterproof and breathable turnout is made of durable 1200 Denier rip stop, Teflon coated outer shell, with 400 grams of hollow fiberfill. The 70 denier nylon liner prevents rubbing and static electricity. Ideal for below ) to the 40's. Nickel plated with brass finish swivel snaps with D rings, so you can attach the straps easily, even while wearing gloves. Added elastic reinforcements on the D-Rings help prevent tearing. This traditional cut turnout includes a single belly surcingle strap, and two detachable elastic leg straps at rear. Additional features consist of double buckle 1" nylon chest straps with keepers sewn to blanket, and heavy fleece at the withers for added 100% waterproof with high breathability."
