Purchase: I got this saddle from a wonderful tack store (don't remember the name unfortunately) on E-bay for only $800 (normally 1,400+) brand new.
Likes: I have had my Artus now for five years and ride multiple horses a day and have still had to make ZERO repairs. The saddle still looks newer than several other saddles at the barn that are several years younger. The Artus is extremely comfortable for flat work as well as over fences and has held up fantastically. I think that perhaps the most terrific thing about this saddle is that it has fit every horse I have put it on. From 17hh warmbloods to 14hh arabians, this saddle has fit them all comfortably (I think there has only been one horse that it didn't fit well because of his enormous withers and a simple riser pad fixed that). This is an excellent saddle for someone who rides many horses and looks for comfort and practicality and it is also beautiful to look at making it perfect for show.
Dislikes: The only fault I can find with my Artus is that the light chestnut color can make it rather difficult to find perfectly matching equipment. Also be careful when you buy stirrup leathers from Stubben in this color as they just painted over the top of another color (the result has been a rather unsatisfactory crackle look). Although I bought them 5 years ago and they may have been improved since then.
Quality: I have not had any problems with any aspect of my artus so far. All the leather is still strong and vibrant. The only place that shows any wear is where my stirrup leathers rub and even that has only resulted in a slight darkening of the leather. It has been a fantastic saddle
Summary: I would recommend this saddle for any close-contact saddle lover. It has held up fantastically through 119 degree days and 20 degree nights and 3-5 horses a day.
Usefulness Rating: 3 out of 5.
