Purchase: I bought these boots on sale from Greenhawk in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada for around $30 (in Cdn funds). Their regular price is $59.95.
I needed a boot to provide some coverage for my horses legs when we pop over small jumps. Jumping is not our main focus - we just do it the occasional time for a change of pace.
Likes: The boots have 2 velcro straps each to secure them. When done up properly, they hold the boots firmly in place and do not cause any pressure points.
The hard outer shell provides enough protection for what we need, and the lycra-lined neoprene lining remains soft against the horses legs. They do not hold water or attract burrs, twigs or leaves.
When dusty or dirty, all it takes is a damp rag to shine up the outside of the boot. A vacuum works well to remove hair / dust from the inside.
Dislikes: The boots only come in 2 sizes (small and medium). My horse is a 14.3hh Morgan / Throughbred and the small-sized boots are *almost* too big for her.
For anyone who's main discipline is jumping, I would recommend a boot with more padding to minimize bumps and strain on the horses legs.
Quality: Good construction. Not a top of the line boot, but it does the job.
Definately worth the money ($30) when on sale, though the regular price seems like a bit much to me.
Summary: A good boot to do the occasional jump in, though I don't think they'd suit a horse that does jumping regularly.
