Purchase: I purchased this saddle at Greenway Saddlery in Scottsdale, AZ a month ago. I paid $2099.
Likes: I new to dressage after riding H/J for 40 years. I tried many saddles and either felt too constricted or the pommel was too high.
Although my first couple tries in this saddle made me feel it was a bit wide I immediately liked my leg position and the cushiony seat, and broken-in feel. The buffalo leather is grippy, not slippery. I have a high withered, long backed Holsteiner that is a little hollow below his wither. He is hard to fit. This saddle is very nicely padded (very soft) and sits well on his back. There is no pressure from the tree driving into his shoulder. It has a straight billet and an angled billet which keeps the saddle from sliding back. I have ridden in this saddle now for 3 weeks and no longer feel that its too wide. I'm very comfortable.
Dislikes: I don't consider this a "pretty" saddle. It looks like a serious working saddle, so if "pretty" is one of your adjectives in describing what you want in a saddle I don't think this is it.
Quality: The quality of the leather and the construction of this saddle is top notch. It looks and feels custom made. It is a very well balanced saddle.
Summary: This is a great saddle for comfort for both rider and horse. Being new to this discipline it has helped me tremendously already in my leg position, balance and ease in breaking in.
