Purchase: I purchased these from Dover Catalog for about $99.00 in the spring of 2004. I purchased them because I wanted a safety stirrup that did not have the rubber bands.
Likes: I really like the way these stirrups look. They do not look like safety stirrups and can even be worn in the show ring. I have seen other riders a rated shows showing in them. The replacement pads that you can buy are easily replaced with a razor blade. The pads are easier to replace than they look. I also really like the pads--they grip great.
Dislikes: At first the stirrups squeaked. If you oil them regularly at first the squeaking stops completely. I have to oil mine about two months for the squeaks to stop. I did not like the size options. I purchased the larger option and they are huge. Nobody seems to notice the size but me. And like I said, I have seen riders at rated shows using them. I also do not care for the orange sticker that comes on them but it is really small and easily overcome with a metallic marker or paint. Also, some people might find the weight of the stirrups too heavy but for those who follow George Morris and his advise, you will like the heavier stirrups. But note, they are really heavy.
Quality: The quality is great. They are really sturdy and still look great after 2 years of use.
Summary: I would definitely buy again. A great safety product that doesn't look like a safety product.
