Purchase: I purchased this saddle through the Dover Saddlery online site and was thrilled to find how carefully the saddle was packed and how quickly it arrived! I chose this saddle because it appeared as if it would allow me to practice various riding styles without the added expense of purchasing a dressage and a jumping saddle. I paid $1749.00 and even though I could have ordered it for a bit less elsewhere, I didn't want to take a chance on a lesser known dealer.
Likes: This saddle puts the rider in the right position, first time, every time! The flaps are long enough for dressage, forward enough for some jumping and comfortable enough for long trail rides! I had been away from the english discipline for a long time having only ridden in western and trooper saddles for 17 1/2 years. When I had my first ride in this saddle, I felt perfectly at ease and it felt as if the saddle was broken in already. In other words, there is no adjustment time with this saddle, just comfort and support. My new horse, a 16 hand Thoroughbred, is a bit high in the withers but it fit as if it was custom made for him. Lastly and most important to me, the seat of this saddle is not shallow nor is it too deep, the twist and the depth of the seat is prefect for seat, balance and a sense of security while riding.
Dislikes: I cannot find anything wrong with this saddle or the Stubben company in general.
Quality: The construction of this saddle is meticulous, I inspected every inch and found that the stitching as well as the various panel alignment is perfect. Moreover, the saddle is very beautiful and the quality of the leather is immediately obvious and coupled with my color choice, Havana, this saddle is a real eye-catcher!
Summary: When I had my last TB mare, 17 1/2 years ago, I had Stubben tack so naturally I replicated my original choice because of past satisfaction. ....the Stubben name didn't disappoint me then and it hasn't disappointed me now. With the passage of years, the quality is still superior, which tells me this is a company that consistently pays attention to detail and is committed to customer satisfaction! Finally, for those of you that want a multi-discipline saddle that offers comfort and security, this is one that you should experience!
