Purchase: I bought this saddle after searching online for the best price. I ended up buying it from Foxhunter Tack Shop in Ontario for $1199. CAD. I bought this saddle to have something that would fit my young Paint while she's still growing.
Likes: I really like the comfort of knowing that she's comfortable in this well fitting saddle. I love the balance of the saddle, and all of the extra D-rings to attach things to for sacking out- or trail riding.
This saddle is so comfy to ride in, and I love it. I love that I can hose it down to clean it- and that I am not worried about the leather getting ruined as I'm putting miles on my gal while she's green.
I also really like the adjustable leg blocks. I have found I can place them in a way that makes my saddle seem quite like a dressage saddle for schooling in as well!
Dislikes: I don't like that you can't choose which gullet sizes come in your kit. I'd have doubled up on the ones that I know I'd probably use- like wide and med wide rather than have a bunch of gullets I'll probably never use.
The flap is a bit longer than I would like-but hey I'm short 5"3...
Quality: I've had this saddle for almost a year, and it looks awesome. I ride 4-5 times a week and sometimes trails will last for a good 3-4 hours. It's had lots of use.
The CAIR has held up well- I was worried it might not- especially since my horse DID lie down and roll with it on her back while my boyfriend was supposed to be minding her.... The tree, Cair and gullets were still perfect- LUCKY HUH!!!
That should tell you about the quality right there... pretty much indestructible!
Summary: I love my saddle. And I would recommend it to anyone. Even though my horse and I are learning how to Pen, until I find a western saddle that I'll love more (which will be pretty darn hard) I will tack up with my trusty 'ol endurance saddle and ride in my western bridle for schooling and trail rides anytime.
