Likes: I liked that I got these boots at such a great price... and what may be problematic for some people, the calf runs small which for me is a bonus. I have very small calves and off the rack boots typically look very sloppy on my twiggy legs. The calf of the Ariat boots is arguably as trim and flattering a fit as my dearly departed Dehners.
Dislikes: As some other people have noted, the Heritage Field boots are quite stiff in the ankle and slow to drop due to double thickness leather. They don't really drop much at all, actually. The lack of drop is actually a bonus for me as I need all the height I can get, but the break in period was pretty rough. I had bruises on the front of my shins from the creases trying to form.
Quality: These are built as if they are going into battle. Great, tight stitching and indestructible materials. A little more softness in the ankle would make break in period a little more tolerable though...
Summary: Nice boots and great price on clearance. Just be sure you know that they run small in the calf, tall in height (due to lack of drop) and normal in the foot area.
