Purchase: I needed a wide saddle for my paint quarter horse. None of the wide saddles were wide enough for him without buying a very expensive saddle. I was trading in two used saddles and did not want to owe on a saddle. Lightning G in NY will take a saddle or two in toward the purchase of a new saddle. The saddle was $625. I did not get a girth or leathers with it. If I had mail ordered it they would have included those but I went to the store and since they then spend time fitting the saddle they don't include anything extra. I tried two leather saddles and the Wintec. The Wintec was the only saddle that actually fit both of us.
Likes: I never thought I would like a synthetic saddle but this saddle has won me over. Incredibly light and great fit with the extra wide gullet. The seat is very comfortable and with the equisuede material you stick like glue especially nice with a young and sometimes fresh horse. I think the cair system is very comfortable for the horse since he seems to move well with it. The saddle pad has perfect markings underneath showing good balanced fit. I'm very excited about not having to clean it very much, can ride in the rain and will be able to take him in the ocean with it. The saddle actually looks good on him and I will definitely try the Wintec Isabell dressage saddle if my Amerigo dressage saddle does not fit. This saddle does provide good position for my leg and seat, excellent security over fences and with basic dressage work. I can also change the gullet and use it on my medium wide horse if I want.
Dislikes: Only things I don't like are the stirrup bars don't close and a stirrup leather could slide out. Also, at first there felt like there was some bulk under my upper thigh just above the stirrup bar area. I rode 6 hours last week in it and was very comfortable so it is not very noticeable.
Quality: Very good quality and construction. I would have had to spend thousands to get a saddle with this fit for the horse and this quality. The leather saddles I tried in this price range were very poor quality.
Summary: Definitely will consider a Wintec with my next saddle purchase. Comfort for horse, rider and pocketbook. My husband the anti synthetic saddle person really liked it too. Plus, no animal died for it.
Usefulness Rating: 2.6 out of 5.
