Purchase: I bought the halter from SSTack.com about 8 months ago for $14.95 plus shipping.
Likes: My horse must wear a breakaway turnout halter at all times at my boarding facility. Because she wears a halter 24/7, she has rubbed out hair on her nose and actually gotten rubbed raw along her cheekbones from halters. She hates wearing a halter, and rubs her face along fences, trees, etc. If the halter is only slightly loose, she can remove it without anything being unbuckled.
This is the BEST HALTER I HAVE EVER FOUND, and I've been through MANY MANY halters since moving to this barn 2.5 years ago!
The padding is not made of neoprene that will harden and crack like other "padded" halters on the marker. It is actual padding with smooth nylon over top. My horse seems comfortable with it and there are no rubs! The padding covers EVERYTHING too, not just the nose and the crown.
This halter also FITS my mare (who is a 15.2 hand paint horse with a medium to large head). It is adjustable under the chin.
Dislikes: The throat latch buckle is the snap on type that seems unsafe to me. I've read articles about this type of buckle getting caught on things and injuring the horse. I replaced it with a safer buckle since my horse rubs her face on everything.
Quality: Very good. I've had it 8 months and it's not showing much wear. A good washing brings it back to life.
Summary: BUY THIS HALTER. You won't be sorry! It is the best deal out there for the price. Honest!
