Purchase: I needed a new girth to replace a 10 year old cheap black neoprene girth that has seen better days, so I went to my local tack shop and bought this one for approx $32.
Likes: It comes in BROWN!! I ride in a medium brown reining saddle, and use a lot of brown/tan/natural saddle pads. My horse is a chestnut and white tobiano. I hate how a black girth looks with this combination. It sticks out like a sore thumb.
The neoprene is spongy, and seems to have a sort of padding to it that other girths don't have. It is removable for easy cleaning, but the velcro that holds it on is SUPER SUPER strong. It's hard to remove, and that is a GOOD THING!
The backside of the girth is textured, giving it a little grip. I ride with a pretty loose girth and this really helps with the saddle slipping.
One the side you tack up on, the girth buckle has a little roller on it that makes sliding the billet through a lot easier. It's a little thing, but not something that most cheap girths have.
Since the girth isn't a tube of neoprene it is more low profile under your leg.
Dislikes: Nothing so far.
Quality: Very good construction. It is holding up very well and washes nicely. The hardware isn't rusting, unlike other girths that I have gotten that claim to be stainless and then rust with a little bit of horse sweat. The stitching is strong, and the velcro is TOUGH.
Summary: Go ahead and splurge on this. It'll cost you $10-15 more than those cheap black neoprene ones you can find online, but it is so worth it. The girth is much better looking and much better quality for the money.
