Purchase: My horse has a hard to fit back. We searched and searched for a saddle to fit her, and ended up finding a flex saddle that was very close. With a Professional's Choice Air Ride Pad, the dry spots on her back disappeared...

I started probing the saddle pad, and the "air cells" were completely crushed and not thick at all. I went searching for something better than the Air Ride pad, which I was told was the best.
I found the IMPACT GEL pad and decided to give it a try. It said it could disperse pressure better than any other pad.
I bought it some Schneider's Saddlery for $199.
Likes: The pad did wonders. My horse seems comfortable in it and it helps with a saddle that is "as close as you can get" for my mare. The navajo cover is thick and as well made as any wool show pad on the market.
The fleece is soft and comfortable. It will pack down and get full of hair, but you can vacuum and curry it and it "refluffs" again.
Dislikes: The pad is really heavy. But it's worth it for all that good gel.
Quality: Very good and is holding together well. The wear leathers are thicker than on most pads. I haven't tried washing it yet, and I'm kind of afraid too. I just vacuum it with our horse vacuum, or throw it on the floor and use the house vacuum (works better!). It comes very clean this way.
Summary: This pad isn't going to make your poorly fitting saddle "work." But it will take a saddle that fits well and make it more comfortable for your horse. If you care about your horse's back, give it a try. I think there is a money back guarantee on this, so check it out before purchasing.
