Purchase: While in Italy with the U.S. Navy, I purchased a very nice Italian jumping saddle with wonderful leather. No place to ride and my horses in the States, that saddle stayed unused until I was discharged and went to Charleston with my new husband. Once there, I tried the saddle on a quarter horse jumper who liked to rush his fences, and used it to start breaking in my 3yr old Arabian stallion. Unfortunately, neither horse went well in that saddle. About that time the feed store branched into English and had 3 saddles I had never heard of 'courbette' After a few months of no interest, he marked them down to $350.00. He let me take the all purpose on trial. Both the Arab and the quarter horse went very well. I sold my Italian jumping saddle for enough to buy the courbette. That was in 1982 From then until 2004, that saddle was ridden daily on Arabs appaloosas Thoroughbreds, saddlebreds and many "just horses." The only work it has required was replacement of billets when a puppy thought the saddle was a chew toy. In 2004 I had a devastating stroke, and now my daughters ride in my saddle
Likes: Even after so many years, the leather is beautiful --you can tell it is a well used saddle, but it is still a very ride-able saddle. While it doesn't fit very wide horses,, it broke in at once and was very secure and comfortable
Dislikes: I didn't buy all three when I had the chance, this is a great saddle
Quality: Very high quality leather, good tight stitching, even after so long, the saddle remains comfortable and secure
Summary: If I ever need to buy another saddle, this is the one!!!!
