Purchase: I purchased this helmet online for $59.00 (you can buy them now for as low as $52.99)
Likes: My requirements for a helmet were as follows:
1. Must fit well and not pinch
2. Must provide adequate ventilation to keep my head cool in summer
3. Must fit well enough that I can wear ear warmers under the helmet if the weather is really cold.
4. Must provide adequate protection to cover the back of my head in case of fall.
5. Chin strap must be comfortable and not pinch my throat or chin.
6. Visor should not be "detachable"
The Sportage helmet met and exceeded all my requirements. I have bumped the front of other helmets and had the visors come off. Other helmets also sat on top of my head (I didn't feel like they wrapped around my head and provided maximum protection...but the Sportage helmet does). The helmet is also very light-weight. I often get teased because I forget to remove my helmet after riding....it's that comfortable.
Dislikes: There is nothing that I don't like about the unit.
Quality: The unit is a single piece of construction...the visor is a molded part of the helmet itself. Top notch quality...it feels good to your hands and your head. It is a flattering design that molds to your head.
Summary: I will never buy another type or brand of helmet for myself, my family, or my students. I have enough to think about when training a horse...without worrying about the helmet that is giving me a headache. The Tipperary Sportage Helmet is the best addition to my riding gear that I have ever purchased. I absolutely love it!
