Purchase: I purchased my Niedersuss Symphony from my dressage instructor for $900.00. I have a hard to fit Arabian mare, Alibi, on whom I tried numerous saddles but with no luck. We tried the Niedersuss Symphony on her, and it fit very well, so I then decided to purchase it. This is saying something, as I had tried on numerous saddles with absolutely no success, even with different types and sizes of "specialty pads". Alibi's back is now totally comfortable, and I have not had to have the Equine Chiropractor out since!
Likes: There are many aspects I like about the Niedersuss Symphony. First of all, it has excellent quality leather. It is soft, supple and has not faded at all, which is quite impressive for a saddle that is around ten years old. The stitching is still in excellent shape, and none has had to be replaced. The billets (which on many other saddles I have seen have to be replaced before ten years of use) are also in wonderful shape and hold up really well - there is no cracking or dryness of the leather. The medium-deep seat is not too shallow nor too deep. I can easily sit Warmblood gaits, as well as feel totally great on my Arabian and QH. The seat itself is quite comfortable and soft. This saddle has fit so many different horses, it's amazing. So far it has fit Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Paints, Arabians, Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, just to name a few.
Dislikes: When used long enough, there are small indents on the seat from the rider's seat bones, though it does not effect the comfort at all.
Quality: The construction and quality is fantastic, I honestly could not ask for anything more! There is no dryness or cracking of the leather, the stitching remains intact, and just overall is in very, very good shape, especially for its age.
Summary: I would highly recommend the Niedersuss Symphony to anyone who is looking for a quality dressage saddle, whether its for one or ten horses! It's price new is quite affordable as well, which is a plus to those on a budget.
