Purchase: I needed a show shirt quick, but didn't want to spend tons of money. Our local tack store sells bib-front show shirts for approximately $25 Cdn.
Likes: The unique styling. Bib-fronts are not a full show short, but essentially a rectangular piece of material (the body of the bib front) with a collar at the top and a narrow, thin waist strap to secure the bib front around the middle.
It stayed in place when worn over a light T-shirt and looked like a regular show shirt when my show jacket was on.
The bib-fronts were available in a variety of colours (light blue, purple, pink and green) but I chose classic white.
What little stitching there is is tight and even. The bib-front came with a matching choker.
Dislikes: Not really a dislike, but I'm pretty tiny and the waist strap is quite long. I shortened it with a pair of scissors and stitched the end so it wouldn't fray.
I think a big reason that bib fronts aren't all that popular is because if show jackets are excused for whatever reason, a bib-front is not an acceptable show shirt. This means you cannot remove your jacket in the ring.
Still though, it's convenient in some cases and served me well for the show I needed it for.
Quality: Nice material. Good stitching. The package even came with instructions on how to put the bib-front on and adjust it (even though it's not hard to figure out).
Summary: Nice product, but I don't know if I'd get one again.
I still do wear the bib-front on occasion (mostly at schooling shows) but I do have a regular show shirt which is my mainstay. It's also proper for the show ring (if jackets were excused).
