Purchase: I originally rode with those thin-based (prussian) irons but decided to try something different. I wanted an iron that would feel more secure under my foot.
I paid around $40 Cdn for the Stainless Steel version.
Likes: They're heavyweight and feel very secure to ride in. It's a nice change, especially after riding with prussian irons that were so light I found myself looking down to make sure they were still there!
Dislikes: They're so heavy that I can't run them up the leathers. They start to slip down almost immediately (I learned the hard way with a bruise on my chin, reaching up to put the saddle on my horse!).
On a spooky horse, he/she might not appreciate the heavy irons clanging against his/her sides as he/she is being led.
Quality: Very good quality, well made.
Summary: I like these irons, though I find that after riding for around an hour, my ankles and knees get sore. This isn't a fault of the irons... moreso my body. I plan on getting jointed irons soon.
