Purchase: I purchased this jacket in November, on line for under $80.00. I had seen and tried it at Equine Affair in Massachusetts, but the vendor there didn't have my size.
Likes: This jacket is very warm without being bulky. Whether I'm doing chores, grooming, or riding, I can move about comfortably without being restricted by a bulky jacket. The sleeves zip off to convert the jacket to a vest, extending its usefulness into the fall and spring seasons. There are small zippers at the bottom of the jacket's side seams, and when they're unzipped the jacket falls more smoothly around your hips when riding (or seated in the car). The brushed fabric on the outside hides dirt fairly well, and so far has cleaned up well with a damp sponge. The sleeves have a knit cuff inside, which is invaluable for keeping the drafts out when riding on cold days
Dislikes: There are only two things that could be improved. First, the sleeves are a little bit short. They're fine for walking around, but if I extend my arms much at all, as you do when riding, or saddling, or throwing hay, the sleeves ride up a bit. I'm not particularly tall or long-limbed, so I would guess this would happen to most people. Second, the zippers on the pockets are metal zippers, which can be really tough on the bare skin of your hands, especially in winter when your skin is dry. However, I would buy this jacket again, or recommend it to others, despite these two issues.
Quality: The jacket is good quality and well constructed. A few down feathers "leaked" through the fabric on the inside when I first started wearing it, but that seems to have stopped.
Summary: This is a great jacket for anyone who wants a jacket to keep them really warm through the winter, and will work through spring and fall as well.
