Purchase: I bought this saddle pad as a gift for my boyfriend for Christmas.
He needed a new saddle pad and this one, from Apple Saddlery in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, stood out in their mail-order catalogue.
It retails for $67.95 Cdn without taxes.
Likes: The colour. Its beautiful red/maize/black pattern highlights my boyfriends horse and makes a really beautiful picture.
The padding. It's got a sheared fleece top, 1" thick felt centre and deep fleece bottom. Measuring 30"x30" it provides ample protection to the horses back and withers.
Dislikes: Nothing yet.
Quality: Excellent. It has fully protected the horses back during slow one-hour trail rides, and also during extended rides (4 or more hours) with stretches of trotting and cantering.
It cleans up easily (I just use a vacuum to get rid of the dust), and the colours have remained vibrant through washings.
Summary: A beautiful pad at a great price. It wouldn't look out of place at the show ring, or (as my boyfriend uses it) for trail riding.
