Western Pleasure Show Saddle 1396-4
Show Saddles
Manufacturer: Circle Y
Model: Western Pleasure Show Saddle 1396-4
Category: Show Saddles
Purchase: I acquired my saddle 8/5/1989 from Cowboy Corner (Horn Lake, MS) when looking for a show saddle for western pleasure competition classes. I paid $2,500.00. I chose this particular saddle because it met (and has exceeded my saddle requirements and expectations).
Likes: I like this saddle most because it fits my horse and I, allows for free movement me to give the Que's to my horses, and fits my personality. The design and comfort of the seat allows me to maintain my proper position and balance while riding. The adjustment of the fenders for stirrup length,(I am short), the weight and balance of the saddle. I like the construction of the saddle. It is a limited edition, with lots of eye appeal. My saddle has silver with turquoise inlay trim, weight is approximately 38lbs, deep seated, beautiful color and tooling.
Dislikes: I like everything about my saddle. The only thing I would change today is I would like to have my saddle with a modern day close contact skirt (only because I have acquired a new horse which is trained differently than my last one). I would like to have silver added to the horn, cantle short finder and gullet to have a more modern look.
Quality: It is built on a rawhide tree with a hand shaped ground seat designed for a specific event. The construction and design of the seat allows the rider to be comfortable, maintain correct positioning and balance. The fork and cantle are laminated and permanently bonded together with wood grain running in opposite directions. The rawhide tree is covered rawhide, hand laced and water proofed. It allows for forward swing of the fenders without wear on the saddle.
Summary: Although my saddle is 17 yrs and 5 months old, it is still in new condition even with the new leather smell!! I am impressed with Circle Y. I have followed Circle Y's instructions to a T and dotted I. My saddle fits my horse and it fits my body for comfort, allowing me to maintaining position and balance for better performance of horse and rider, and it fits my personality. It has maintained its color and luster. I would rather modernize this saddle than give it up!! Circle Y has far exceeded my expectations and lives up to it's superior standards.
