Purchase: The saddle was passed on to me by someone who found the twist too wide for their body (but it fits me fine). It was bought about 5 years ago for about $2500 CDN at a local tack shop. It worked for me since it is a wide tree and I had just started working with a wide horse.
Likes: The workmanship on this saddle is wonderful and it is very comfortable. It has stood up to pretty heavy wear and tear without looking as though it has. It fits my horse well an sits nicely in balance.
Dislikes: Quite soon after I startd using it the stirrup leather wore the colour off of the lower part of the flap-the saddle is havana brown and it has worn away to a light chestnut colour. Also, the leather used beind the stirrup bar (at the top of the flap) is not sewn down in any way and it bunches up and leaves an open hole.
Quality: The leather used is of reasonable quality in general but the stirrup leathers seem to stay dry in spite of regular cleaning and conditioning, they do not soften. However, they are not cracking at all and are not diffiult to use. It is a tough saddle: it has been dropped and steped on by a horse with no real damage to it.
Summary: I like this saddle a lot but think that the older Pegasus saddles are of far better quality. I would not have bought this saddle for myself given the price.
